Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About Naturopathic Medicine?

Learn more about naturopathic medicine, appointments with Dr. Rachel Alioto and what to expect when working with Infinity Naturopathic.

What is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor?

A Naturopathic Medical Doctor completes four years of naturopathic medical training. Naturopathic medicine takes an individualized, whole-person approach to health and emphasizes prevention and the least invasive appropriate treatment options.

Rather than looking only at individual symptoms, naturopathic doctors consider the broader health picture and factors that may be contributing to those symptoms.

What does a naturopathic doctor do?

A naturopathic doctor looks at your symptoms along with your health history, nutrition, lifestyle, stress and other factors that may affect your health.

Dr. Rachel uses this information to develop an individualized plan that may include nutrition and lifestyle recommendations, natural supplementation, laboratory testing and other naturopathic therapies based on your needs.

What conditions does Dr. Rachel Alioto treat?

Dr. Rachel works with a wide range of health concerns, including digestive complaints, women's health and hormone concerns, PCOS, PMS/PMDD, perimenopause and menopause, thyroid imbalances, autoimmune disease, fatigue and chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, inflammatory conditions, anxiety and depression, acne, eczema, mold illness, men's health and pediatric health.

Because Infinity Naturopathic is a general naturopathic practice, you do not need to fit neatly into one of these categories to schedule a consultation.

Does Dr. Rachel only treat women's health and hormones?

No. Women's health and hormonal concerns are part of Dr. Rachel's practice, but Infinity Naturopathic is a general naturopathic practice.

Dr. Rachel works with patients across a wide range of ages and health concerns.

Does Dr. Rachel see children?

Yes. Dr. Rachel works with patients of all ages, from newborns and children through adulthood and older age.

The initial appointment for children is typically 60 minutes.

Do I need a diagnosis before seeing Dr. Rachel?

No. You do not need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before scheduling an appointment.

Dr. Rachel's approach is to understand you as an individual, including your symptoms, history and other factors that may be contributing to how you feel.

How does Dr. Rachel offer appointments?

Dr. Rachel currently offers telemedicine appointments by phone or video. In some cases, home visits may also be available.

What happens during my first appointment?

Your first appointment is an in-depth review of your current concerns and past medical history.

Initial appointments are typically 90 minutes for adults and 60 minutes for children.

Dr. Rachel will take time to understand what's been going on and begin developing an individualized plan of action based on your health history and concerns.

How should I prepare for my first appointment?

Complete all required questionnaires and consent forms before your appointment.

If you have previous laboratory results, imaging or other relevant medical records, bring them with you or upload them to the online patient portal before your visit.

Does Dr. Rachel order laboratory testing?

Comprehensive laboratory testing may be part of your care when appropriate. Testing recommendations are based on your symptoms, health history and individual needs.

What types of treatments may Dr. Rachel recommend?

Treatment is individualized and depends on your needs.

Recommendations may include nutrition and lifestyle changes, stress management, movement practices, natural supplementation, homeopathy, counseling, physical therapies such as craniosacral therapy, and comprehensive laboratory testing.

Can Dr. Rachel prescribe medications?

Yes. Dr. Rachel can prescribe medications when appropriate.

She most frequently prescribes hormones, including compounded forms. Her approach generally prioritizes less invasive options when appropriate before moving to higher-level interventions.
